Carbon reduction targets are increasingly common part of the energy landscape. New and aggressive carbon reduction goals have been set by energy users on a voluntary basis and by a growing number of States. At the same time, the market for Carbon offsets is relatively immature. In this presentation, I discuss the current market for carbon offsets and how large energy users can tap into this market to support their renewable goals.

Rice is a Market Risk Manager at 5, an energy advisory based in Irving, Texas. He works directly with C&I end-users to optimize energy assets and strategically purchase gas, power, and environmental commodities. Prior to working at 5, Rice worked with APX in San Jose, CA who builds and administers many of the environmental commodity registries in use today for RECs and VCUs (Voluntary Carbon Units) among others.
